Various Muslim groups, political and nonn-political alike, have opposed the Central Government’s move to allow opening of Israel’s consulate office in Bangalore and said the increasing cooperation between New Delhi and Tel Aviv “makes India’s stand on Palestine imbroglio a farce.
”The Social Democratic Party of India, (SDPI), has taken umbrage over the decision of the Congress-led UPA Government granting Israel permission to open a Consulate in Bangalore following India's External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna’s visit to that country.
“It is pertinent to note that increasing cooperation between New Delhi and Tel Aviv makes India’s stand on Palestine imbroglio a farce,” said SDPI on Friday.SDPI national president Mr. E. Aboobacker and general secretary Mr. A. Sayeed in a joint statement have condemned the Union Government’s move, and said: “India seeking to forge a joint strategy with Israel to deal with the scourge of terrorism is a big joke as the latter over nine decades has been massacring unarmed Palestinians, including women and children, with impunity.
”The duo substantiated their point by recalling Mahatma Gandhi’s statement in 1946 wherein he had said: "But in my opinion, they (the Jews) have erred grievously in seeking to impose themselves on Palestine with the aid of America and Britain and now with the aid of naked terrorism. Why should they depend on American money or British arms for forcing themselves on an unwelcome land? Why should they resort to terrorism to make good their forcible landing in Palestine?"Mr. Aboobacker said Israel’s ever increasing presence in India has proved to be a bane for the countrymen. In many of the communal conflagrations, especially the aftermath of Babri Masjid demolition, along with and number of bomb blasts in the country, apprehensions have been expressed in many quarters about Israel’s involvement in fermenting trouble.
This came true as soon after the Congress Government led by Prime Minister PV Narsimha Rao established diplomatic relations with Israel in 1992-1993 Indian people were soaked in blood in the post Babri Masjid demolition riots. He said following 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai in some sections of the Press it was alleged that it was the handy work of saffron forces with the help of Mossad, the national intelligence agency of Israel. After a number of saffron terrorism escapades led to media revelation about the Hindutv outfit Abhinav Bharat’s sinister plan to create complete chaos and lawlessness in the country and then overthrow the elected Government of India which was also with the help of Mossad. The aim was thereby to establish a Hindu Rashtra.
It is well-known that the Mossad is responsible for intelligence collection and covert operations which are suspected to include targeted killings and paramilitary activities beyond Israel's borders, he pointed out. However, they clarified that the SDPI is not against Jews or Israel, but, certainly against the policy of Israel which while playing havoc against the helpless Palestinian people is a constant threat to the Arab world in the Middle East.Meanwhile, Indian Union Muslim League took strong exception to the statements made by Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna during his recent visit to Israel. League’s chief Prof. Basir Ahmed Khan said that Mr. Krishna described Israel and India as natural allies and said that both the countries were facing international terrorism.
“This is travesty of justice because what Israel was facing is an struggle of Palestinians to free their own country from the illegal occupation of Israel; this cannot be equated with terrorism,” said Dr. Khan. The League leader expressed his indignation at the timing of the Israel visit by Foreign Minister because at this time mosque are being burnt and Israeli forces are torturing the Palestinian youth. He also expressed concern over the foreign policy of UPA govt.Popular Front of India has also condemned UPA Government for signing a pact with Israel to forge anti-terror activity.
“It amounts to mere mockery because Israel is by itself a fountain head of terrorism globally. Unfortunately, our government is acting as a tool to implement the aggressive policies of USA and its close ally Israel. Also Popular Front views the India-Israel joint decision to open Israel’s consulate in Bangalore, as a threat to our national interests. It will be a catalyst to the communal and terrorist agenda of the Hindutva fascist outfits, particularly in Karnataka state which is already in their grip,” E. M. Abdul Rahiman, Chairman, PFI said in a statement.
